A wealth of rivers and waterways make Caroline County a haven for families and individuals seeking adventures on the water. A 60-mile water route cuts through the Choptank and Tuckahoe Rivers Water Trail system linking more than 15 existing public access points and providing many opportunities to explore and learn about the Chesapeake Bay and its watershed. Stop by the Choptank River Heritage Center and Joppa Steamboat Wharf in West Denton to rent a canoe or kayak or pick up a copy of the "Choptank & Tuckahoe River Guide" and take advantage of 15 self-guided heritage paddle trips.

Cycling

Caroline County's 120,000 acres of farmland represent more than half of the county's total acreage. This picturesque farm country coupled with woodland, charming rural towns, and flat modern roads with light vehicular traffic have made it a favorite destination for bicycle clubs from as far away as New York. "Cycling in Caroline County, Maryland" maps out 11 bicycle routes ranging from 14.5 to 38 mile trails that can be shortened and customized to suit the weekend or advanced cyclist. In addition to routes, the brochure includes information on restaurants, places of interest, accommodations and camping. Tuckahoe State Park has 20 miles of trails to enjoy in a beautiful park setting.
